Bare Minerals

BARE MINERALS - ORIGINAL IN MEDIUM BEIGE

No words for this product. I have tried others and nothing, NOTHING makes my skin look as flawless as Bare Minerals foundation.

I use a light moisturizer before I put it on but that's it.

It is my entire face makeup routine in one little package. No BB Cream, no primer, no liquid foundation. It's not heavy, and it STAYS ALL DAY. I'm really sellin it - I know. That's because it works.  I dust it lightly around my cheeks so some of my natural blush can come through but this stuff can seriously take my face from 0 - 60 in a few swipes. 

Rodan + Fields Redefine

When I was first introduced to Rodan+Fields and the potential it had I was like "Sorry no, can't be real. I would have heard of it." But it's real, and I was in the dark and HOLY SHOOT. Now I see the light.

At first I went "oooh my skin likes this, this smells good, this feels good" and after a few uses I was like "ok these bottles contain small wizards." Kicks butt. It's more expensive than say Neutrogena but it leaves your face so happy and produces insane results. Insane. Plus each pack lasts you 2 months. There is no more guessing with your skincare. You don't have to waste money trying everything in the drugstore, finding a perfect moisturizer that plays nicely with your toner and so on. Rodan+Fields already did all the work for you. 

When I turned 25 I experienced a mental shift. It wasn't "oh I should ____ because everyone says it's good for me." I was taking care of myself, my body, and my skin because I wanted to. Genuinely. I started asking questions at eye appointments and researching preventative measures I could take to avoid things many of us confront as we age. Something inside of me when I crossed over from age 24 went "Yo, this is the only body, face, and life we've got - let's act like it, eh?" I don't know why inner me is a Gangster Canadian but nevertheless, you need this skin care. I can help. My favorite is Redefine because I started noticing eye wrinkles and forehead wrinkles and WHERE THE HECK DID THOSE COME FROM. Now I have to search for them to see them (like under a microscope search). These Swirly Twirlys

Likely not their technical name - but I am obsessed. No breakage from pony tails, no bumps. You simply twist these into your hair for a tight bun, messy bun, or pony tail. I use them in the morning when I don't have time to blow dry my hair, or at night if I'm sleeping with my hair wet. My natural hair is VERY straight, but when I twist it up into a bun and insert the swirly twirlys, I can let my hair down a few hours later and BOOM. Perfect curls.

I only use two for my hair type. My hair is long and I have a lot of it - but it's very fine. My thick-haired girls will likely need four.

I buy mine from Fred Meyer (I have a weird obsession with Fred Meyer that we can explore later) and they're Goody brand. About $6 a pack - no need to break the bank on this trick for healthier, bouncier, happier hair, my friends.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist

Brows are everything. This isn't news to me anymore but a few years ago it was. Back in my days of extremely thin brows. I also once had an eyebrow that started about halfway through my eye. Why!? Loathing old me. 

Anyway, now we all know the importance of brows and I'm sharing my best brow advice. 

FILL IN YOUR BROWS BEFORE YOU PLUCK THEM. I use this inexpensive L'Oreal Brow Stylist Pencil to the left. For the past year or so I have been diligently reshaping my brows the natural way. Which also translates to excruciatingly slow. 

Nonetheless filling in your brows to be the shape you want them to be BEFORE you pluck will ensure that you are not getting rid of important brow hairs just because they are currently out-of-bounds. Ja feel? Overtime hair will grow in the places you want. I also never wax my brows anymore. Perhaps I never met my soulmate eyebrow waxer - but the waxers I did meet consistently took off WAY TOO MUCH hair and destroyed my trust in the process as a waxee.

Eyebrows should start in line with the corner of your inner eye, and end in a diagonal line from the corner of your outer eye. And making a habit of filling in your brows before you pluck will keep you from over pluckin' gurl. Godspeed on your journey to the brows of your dreams.

It's a 10 Miracle Hair Mask

IT'S A 10 MIRACLE HAIR MASK

You know when you think you're invincible and tragic hair stories would NEVER happen to you and then they happen and your hair is irreparable and life is sad? 

Two things: 1. It's not irreparable and 2. I have your solution.

It's a 10 single-handedly saved my over bleached, fraying, "I refuse to grow" hair. I use this hair mask as my daily conditioner. I also use its equally incredible sister, "It's a 10 Leave-In + Keratin" found here.

Keratin restores the proteins your hair has lost from over-processing or too much heat-styling. Using these two products in conjunction with one another will give you bouncy, shiny, growing, soft, healthy hair. Yes, all of those. Try it you'll see.

Dental Floss

One of the reasons I wanted to start a blog is because I realized a lot of my friends and acquaintances were asking me the same questions. So instead of continuing to make you guys ask me things, I'm just telling you proactively. 

One of the questions I get the most: how are your teeth so white? I don't think they're that white but I think when you consider my coffee consumption it makes you scratch your head because yeah, they probably should be brown. 

But they're not THANKS TO FLOSS. I floss every morning and night and no, your dentist did not pay me to write this. I included the photo because this is the exact kind I use.  We are buddies. together twice a day, every day. Keepin' each other in business. 

Vaseline

VASELINE - MOM'S SECRET

Oh my ga. 

When I first began wearing mascara my mom introduced me to this magical tub o' beauty secrets. Vaseline + warm water + washcloth = best make up remover ever. So gentle on your eyes and so gosh darn INEXPENSIVE. 

It's also the best chap-stick on the market, I always have one in my purse. If you want smooth, happy, hydrated lips Vaseline is your new best friend. I get the cocoa butter one for my lips because it's yummy.

And I put it on my lids and lashes at night for moisturizing + protecting + eyelash growth and I've used it for eyebrow taming or flyaway taming (use sparingly in these areas.)
